VU5K module software Update

Post by ke9ns »

With .217 I have updated the VU5K module for the Flex-5000 to allow the 2m module to Receive from 128 mhz to 180mhz.
(Normally its limited to 144 to 148 mhz)

You can only go down to around 128mhz before it stops functioning.
That is probably due to the transverter down-convertion is at 3mhz by the time your at 128mhz.
This also means that at 180mhz the transverter is at 55mhz

Obviously the Receiver performance outside the 2m band is reduced
It appears to be OK when above 148mhz, and not so good below 144mhz
I was able to receive tons of Fire, Medical, and police signals (both FM analog and digital signals) in the 153-154mhz range and NOAA weather in the 163mhz range

I was also able to see the WFM signal of the NOAA 15,18, 19 satellites around 136mhz
I changed the D-FM mode to now say WFM with a 17khz deviation and a +/- 20khz audio range with pre and de-emphasis removed
I am hoping this will allow a decode of the NOAA satellites using WXtoImg
