Re: Flex 5000a Front Panel Headphone Volume Very Low
Thanks for the suggestions. Talking with Toby at Troy radio, he says he has seen the headphone preamp blown by attaching the wrong eqpt to the headphone jack. I put a scope on the jack and there is signal but its micro-volts. I bought this 5000 off QRZ and no telling its history. Thankfully this is ...

Re: Flex 5000a Front Panel Headphone Volume Very Low
Thanks! The RX-M slider is at 100% and no improvement.
I have also discovered the microphone and associated controls do not operate properly. This beginning to look like a hardware problem.

Flex 5000a Front Panel Headphone Volume Very Low
When Heil headphones are plugged into front panel phone jack you almost can't hear the audio because it is so attenuated. Headphones sound great attached to another transceiver. I plugged a pair of old mono aviation headphones in with same result. I've looked for an attenuator setting but can't find...

Re: Flex 5000/CWSkimmer CAT Communication Inconsistancy
Resolved! I had created a connector. It needed to be a pair with unique com ports on each end. Clearly stated on Darrin's website about setting up VSPs. Feel pretty dense!

Flex 5000/CWSkimmer CAT Communication Inconsistancy
CAT communication between my 5000a & CWSkimmer is inconsistent. 5000a frequency is reflected in CWskimmer as new frequencies are chosen. But, if a new frequency is chosen from the CWSkimmer callsign window, CWSkimmer will not change frequency while the 5000a will and the CWSkimmer frequency wind...

Re: Firewire Adapter for USB-C
I settled on a HP Elitebook 8760W 17"Laptop i7 2.7GHz quad core which has a 1394 port along with an Express Card slot. Although build was apx 2011 it was high end and still useful. Will be interesting configure & to run it with the Flex 3000 mobile.
Tnx for help Darrin!

Re: Firewire Adapter for USB-C
I missed this info on your website entirely! Using the Thunderbolt/USB-4 on my Dell looks an expensive risky experiment. There is a lot of ifs involved. I'm leaning to buying a Lenovo W530 i7 and dedicating it to the Flex 3000. It has a Firewire port and an Express card slot as well. Not sure if the...

Re: Firewire Adapter for USB-C
Wow, looking at the Apple Thunderbolt 2 to Firewire adapter, part # MD464LL/A, is made from Rareitrium and the scalpers are scalping the price.
Looks like it needs a 800 to 400 adapter too.
Is this the adapter you mentioned?

Re: Firewire Adapter for USB-C
Hi Darrin, the specs for this machine say it's Thunderbolt 4 ports are USB-C ports.
No "MINI PCIe" slot inside or "Expresscard" slot though.

Firewire Adapter for USB-C
Has anyone found an adapter or hub which will interface from a USB-C port to the 1394-A port on a Flex 3000? I would like to operate portable with my Dell XPS laptop & the Flex. The laptop has 2 native thunderbolt ports and an expansion hub with a USB-C port. I have found different conversion ca...
