Re: Flex-3000 on the 630m Band

Dumb question, how do you unlock a Flex 3000? :-)

Re: Power SDR Start Up issues

I found a simple fix. When this happens, I simply cycle the power to the Flex 3000, and then answer "YES" to the popup.
When I cycle power off, I hear a computer noise as the Firewire link is terminated, and then it makes the same noise after power is restored.

Re: Power SDR Start Up issues

Thanks Darrin, I have had several instances of booting my computer, and doing Browsing, bill pay, YouTube, Rumble, and then try to open up Power SDR, and I get the "Instances error". Perhaps the last time Power SDR closed is the issue, but that was on the prior boot. I upgraded yesterday t...

Power SDR Start Up issues

Hi, I have had a problem for several years now regarding Power SDR startup on my Windows 10 Desktop. Since I have PowerSDR setup to run as an Administrator, I get a popup asking me about that. This is normal. When I click YES, about 30% of the time, I get the 2nd popup, "Other Instances" i...

Re: Windows 10 pro v1809

High all, Enjoying the conversation... Was doing fine here with Win 10 2004 until I downloaded 2.8.172. Would not open PowerSDR until I deleted the 5 database files. Then I uploaded my dataset from dot 165...Seemed to work, but was getting blue screen of death at random. Then I find out that my Nvid...

Re: PowerSDR 2.8.154 and 2.7.2 lockups with TI chipset Firewire

This is a long shot, but I had DDS lockups, and the occasional overall lockup. Turned out that my F5K was an early serial number (2007 build date), and there were possible firmware timing issues that was solved by terminating a trace within the F5K with a 50 ohm resistor. The process was very diffic...

SAM Mode

The SAM mode works pretty well as it is. One negative is when the received signal is off frequency a little, or if propagation QSB induced fading occurs, then the result is a squeal until the receiver sync's up with the received carrier. There is a thread on AM Fone talking about early synchronous d...

Re: Settings with strange behaviour

Hi Darrin, Just getting to this now. Those log files are gone after a reboot. Oh well. I tried booting up my F5K 4 times just now, and each time it went down gracefully when I closed the window. Interesting. Still on .126

I love your work, and dedication. Thanks!

Re: Settings with strange behaviour

Darrin,

OK, I am attaching those files here. Renaming as a .txt since a .log is not allowed. Strike that, .txt not allowed either. OK, they are attached as .txt files within a zipped file, PowerSDR v2.8.0.zip.

Thanks,
Jim

Re: Settings with strange behaviour

Darrin, Getting shutdown errors now with 126. Was on 123, and it would happen occasionally, but it seems more often now. The Power SDR task is always killed now, so that is good. Image attached.
Where are the new log files?

Thanks,
Jim

Fire Wire 1394

In the Flex radio Yahoo group (long gone I think), I copied a post that might be useful. Here is what I copied: "I have a Dell XPS15. It has USB-C (AKA (Thunderbolt 3). I have a USB-C to Thunderbolt adapter from Startech (around £110 direct or £76 from Amazon.co.uk) Then I have an apple Thunder...

Re: AM(SAM) Mode transmit setup

Darrin, You got a good start on your settings. I have a couple of things to add. 1.) On AM the phase of the audio can be important. A lot depends on the persons voice, and the microphone used. With analog systems, flipping the phase can have a dramatic effect at the received end when the receiver at...

Receiver Only Enhancements

Darrin, I use a Flex 5000 as a receiver to my vintage Gonset Transmitter. Using the "Receive Only" box checked, and keying the PTT line from an external relay, and I have an effective setup. Running 2.8.0.104 presently. Was thinking of other receive only enhancements. For example, keep the...
