Re: 5000a 2 carriers on tune

Is it just on 80m or all bands? I would probably cycle power to the radio and PC, then see if it still does it. If its still present, then do a setup->factory defaults (this will save your current database to your desktop automatically) If it still does this when running factory defaults, I would pr...

Re: d-star

The Panafall display of the Flex-5000 is not effected by the mode your running whatsoever. Literally the only thing that can effect the display is the NB feature... if a very very strong signal is anywhere within the 192khz sample range, it can cause the Noise blanker to display artifacts on clean s...

Re: setting up PowerSDR with a Flex 5000a For 100 Watt AM Mode

Mitch, With the Flex-5000, the SSB and AM definitely have different TX profiles for setup and EQ. Yes keep the carrier at 25watts max (assuming 100 watt output). When I run my Titan amp, I keep my carrier at around 375 watts I have a section on my webpage ke9ns.com/flexpage.html. Click on the eSSB/A...

Re: Firewire Win11 PFN LIST

Just for the Full installer. Not even sure you can run a Win7 compatibility mode for the incremental, since its just file replacement. When I compile PowerSDR code its on a Win11 x64 machine, but I dont work with the FireWire software or its drivers (They were developed under Win7) Win 7 compatibili...

Re: Something seems screwed up here.. Topic is solved

If the backup was made using my ke9ns v2.8.0, it should import OK. There are a lot of settings in PowerSDR that could get messed up and make it difficult to remember how they were all set (when it was working the way you liked it). If there is any corruption in your current database or backup, its v...

Re: Change from Class A to Class A/B or B

By default all Flex-5000 radios are "Class AB". If you click on the "Hidden Menus" quick link, then the "PA and SWR Calibration" link, then scroll down to Class A and Class AB. It explains how to re-calibrate the BIAS to either A or AB. Its safest to run your Flex-5000 ...

Running the installer in compatibility mode was probably a good idea.
Worst case, is you uninstall, wipe, and start over

"Expert Mode". I see it now!
I have not used Expert mode in a long time.

Download .290. That should fix the "Expert Mode" and RX2 issue.

Re: .289 Ant Select Relay chatter when tuning RX2 Topic is solved

When I set VFOB as TX and hit either TUN or ATU, I have no issues (using ANT1 or ANT3) at all.

So I must not understand what your saying or the settings your using?

Re: flex 3000 - AM setup looking

Frank, OK. Technically I never tried it on a 1500 or 3000, I assumed it would be the same, but I might be wrong. I have only had fantastic AM audio reports with my setup and my 5000. Note to Everyone: Make sure your using a Mic with a full audio freq range output. The EQ that is built into PowerSDR ...

Re: Firewire Win11 PFN LIST

I looked and I dont have that KB5032007 installed on my Win11 x64 Pro, but I am at ver 21H2 (not 22H2)
I will need to keep that KB in mind.

Thanks

Re: flex 3000 - AM setup looking

AM mode definitely has a totally different setup from SSB in PowerSDR. I have a great AM setup for TX on my website. Go to ke9ns.com/flexpage.html Click on the "eSSB/AM" link on the left side of the screen. It has all the PowerSDR settings needed for fantastic AM audio. NOTE: Even though I...

Re: Firewire Win11 PFN LIST

Someone also said to make sure control panel Power Options was set to High performance and to set "Core Parking. Meaning that we dont want the OS to shut down CPU's to save on power consumption while running PowerSDR. I believe I put that info on my webpage. I know that some BIOS settings allow...

Re: Firewire Win11 PFN LIST

Yup.. Thanks I seems like the PFN faults started to occur after Microsoft started to make "Security" updates to FireWire drivers. Putting limitations on to the original specs due to security concerns. Newer FireWire chips seem to work better along with making sure you dont have an IRQ conf...

Re: Looking for vu5k

The only way I know of getting a VU5K module, would be to contact Toby (toby@troyradio.net). He is the authorized legacy service center for Flex. BUT at this point in time, I believe he uses the VU5K spares he has for repairing VU5K radios, so I am not sure he would sell you a spare? Also when you g...

Re: Flex-3000 "vertical" - Silly question

I do have photos of the inside of the flex-3000 in the manuals section of my webpage (towards the top of the webpage). The only reason not to stand up the unit would be for proper venting during Transmit. The case has vent holes on the sides, so I think you would want to make sure you dont block the...

Re: Firewire connectivity issues

The Flex-5000 does not need a sound card at all BUT... PowerSDR needs at least 1 PC Playback device (like Headset or speakers) and 1 Recording device (like a mic). You technically dont need a sound card (if your not going to use VAC1/2), just a USB Headset with mic (i.e. a cheap walmart logitech usb...

I fixed the Center button when using PAN. I also now turn off PAN if you try and Zoom out beyond 0.6x in 192khz sample rate Because the PAN feature use "I.F. shift" to move the bandpass around, IQ VAC will move as you move around. PC programs that use IQ audio need to know the I.F. Shift, ...

Re: Firewire connectivity issues

The 755 is just a 2 core PC. Definitely not enough power for my version of PowerSDR. Even 4 cores is barely enough. PowerSDR is a 32bit application (there are a few DLLs that I dont have source code for, so we are stuck at 32bit) But its best if you install PowerSDR on a Win10 or Win11 x64 OS (you n...
