Never had any problems with Win7, I got a new PC but with Win10 Pro platform. I loaded software, loaded legacy files for FireWire but nothing to do to get Power SDR to start.
on the same PC I also have ssdr with Flex 6400 but I don't think it has anything to do with it. On the old PC with Win7 they both worked.

Its most likely the FireWire Card. Win10/11 have issues with some cards, even if they worked fine with Win7
The "Legacy" driver works sometimes, and sometimes it can cause issues.
I think its related to all the Microsoft security updates that has caused issues with FireWire.

You may want to pull the card and find out the manufacture and chip#, then try another card, from a different chip# or manufacturer.

I have had good luck with the TI XIO2213B chip on a few different computers, but some people have not. Some say the VIA brand works for them.

I did run an experiment where I took a modern RYZEN PC, installed Win7 x64 Ultimate on a clean hard drive, installed PowerSDR, it ran fine with my Flex-3000. Then I did a free in-place upgrade directly to Win10 x64 Pro. PowerSDR continued to run perfect.
And yet when I put back the original Win11 Pro hard drive, installed PowerSDR, the Flex-3000 would crash (using the exact same FireWire card).

So an in-place upgrade is a possible work-around, but unfortunately most Win7 installs were x86, so while you can in-place upgrade to Win10 x86, you cannot in-place upgrade to Win10 x64

I changed the FireWire and it didn't change anything. Both are PCIE chipsets with NILOX VIA ports, the other is StarTech also VIA. When I changed the FireWire port inside the PC, I launched Powersdr and it asked me to load the firmware, asking me if I'm using a Flex5000. Yes or not. I wrote "No." Then it asked if I'm using a Flex3000. I answered "Yes." But the loading bar remains white, even though it tells me the firmware has been loaded.

If both cards are VIA, then I would try a PCIe card using a TI XIO2213B chip

There has not been a firmware update for the Flex radios in years, so if you were running your Flex-3000 with my software and now its asking for a firmware update, then your PC is having trouble with the FireWire card.

Go to my website and check the left side quick link "FireWire", that has some things to try.

Also you might go into the database folder and delete all 5 database files (with your radios serial number) and start fresh.

I followed your instructions and reloaded the power sdr. Nothing.
I'll try looking for a Texas Instruments FireWire card with the chip you mentioned. But to rule out anything else, I'll look for a Windows 7 PC and see if it works with these two available FireWire cards.
I also deleted v.2.8 and installed 2.7
Can you suggest me how to clean powersdr from this PC without leaving any traces of files?

Right below the GREEN incremental download button are the folders to remove to completely remove PowerSDR

But both PowerSDR 2.8.0 and 2.7.2 both use the exact same FireWire code, so if FireWire is failing on 2.8.0 it will also fail on 2.7.2

I would just make sure to try a TI XIO2213B chip. That is TI's latest version and still in production.

And this section: https://ke9ns.com/flexpage.html#firewire
has a bunch of things to try.
