CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2 Topic is solved
CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
strange behavior of CW skimmer with PowerRX2.
the anomalous behavior that I encounter for the first time during the split is the following:
if you enable PowerRX2 to find the correspondent's 599 it seems that this does not happen.
example: if I position myself in split at 14.020 and the DX station transmits at 14.005, on my split frequency at 020 I will see all the calls and the 599s of the stations to which the DX station responded, but the correspondents are on other split frequencies.
Who can check if it happens to you too?

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
when I use cw skimmer for correspondent hunting in split 599, I set the cw skimmer in the CAT section on powerRX2. everything is ok. the problem is the following:
the DX station that operates, as in the case (VK9XU) at 21.033 split 1-10 up so up till 21.043. the Cwskimmer receives the pileup outside the split range frequency. For example, if a DL responds at 21037, the CW skimmer signals the DL that it has passed the 599 on another frequency shifted by a few khz.
you can check
this is the cw skimmer setting to set vfoB and keep vfoA locked. this way allows you to immediately identify the correspondent when he gives 599 to the right station, but the pileup you get on power sdr, cwskimmer in my case reads it shifted a few kilohertz above so if a station passes 599 to 7010 cw skimmer reads the correspondent a few kilohertz above so if I click on the call that gave the 599 I won't be on the real frequency
the photo does not currently demonstrate any active pile up

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
The issue is VAC1 is IQ is the VFOA panadapter, but RX2 VFOB CAT is displaying the VFOB frequency, so they dont match
I need to add another CAT option to allow RX from VFOA and TX from VFOB

FP/F4HEX tx 14.003. split till 14.006. Cw skimmer reads pileup from 007 outside of pileup range

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
"RX2 VFOB" CAT port was designed for RX2 only, it was never intended for being used the first receiver.
CW Skimmer puts the frequency display of VFOB over the IQ visual signals of VAC1 which is tied to VFOA
So what you see in CW skimmer will never match up with the frequency its displaying.
I will add a new VFOB CAT port to allow for SPLIT over CAT

thanks Darrin.
this way it will be easier to catch the correspondent on the pileup

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
I created version .311
It adds a new CAT port "RX<A, TX>B", so set "RX2 VFOB" Cat port to NONE, and put the CAT port your using in to "RX<A, TX>B" instead.
In CW Skimmer when you click on a 599 it keeps the Receive DX frequency the same, but moves your VFOB SPLIT transmit frequency
The only issue is that if you click on a 599 up above the DX station, the entire display shift up (which is annoying), BUT the CW Skimmer display stays correct (including the green arrow for the DX station) and PowerSDR stays correct.
But you can use your mouse to GRAB the vertical frequency column in CW skimmer and pull the entire display back down so the DX station stays toward the bottom of the screen.

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
Let's see if I understand. I disable the first field where it says Skimmer com12.
- Field RX2 VFOB (None) Enalbe on.
- RX-A TX-B field insert Com12, Enable on.
Right?

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
I think the problem persists. cwskimmer decodes out-of-range calls
in the first photo the signal on red is LZ3ZZ and cwskimmer reports it at around 7013.80

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
Only the "RX2 VFOB" cat port would allow CW Skimmer to display the frequency of VFOB
When you use "RX<A, TX>B" cat port, the Frequency Display on CW Skimmer will only display the frequency of VFOA
Since your CW Skimmer is displaying VFOB frequency, CW Skimmer is not paired with COM12 from your photo?
I would save the settings, shut down, and run PowerSDR again to see if the settings just didnt lock in?
I just confirmed its working correctly but it looks like you need to click the "ON" checkbox 2 times to get it to startup
I will take a look at the code to see why its not automatically starting when checked "ON"?

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
I fixed an issue where the RX<A, TX>B CAT port doesn't open at startup unless you cycle the "ON" checkbox
So go and download .311 over again and install 2 times. Select REPAIR the 2nd time to update
Now the Cat port will automatically open at startup.

I don't understand where I'm wrong. the cwskimmer pile up reads it out of range.
I ran 0.311 repair twice

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2 Topic is solved
Found your issue!
Your OmniRig is set incorrectly.
You have the Rig Type = PowerRX2
When you mentioned PowerRX2, I had no idea you were talking about "OmniRig"
PowerRX2 is only for the Flex-5000 when using RX2
Set the Rig type to "PowerSDR"
And use "RX<A, TX>B"
And you will now be able to click on a 599 in CW Skimmer and only SPLIT VFOB will move
According to CW Skimmer, you can then hit the "END" key on your keyboard to keep the DX Station always at the bottom of the CW Skimmer display.

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
hallelujah, now it works except for the cwskimmer decode window which when you click on the corresponding 599 the window goes up but this is not very annoying.
just explain to us what is the cat RX2 VFOB port for?

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
Correct the DX station moves up if you click up which is annoying.
BUT If you hit the "END" key on the keyboard, it will move everything back down to the bottom of the screen
I am going to modify PowerSDR code to automatically send a "END" key press to CW Skimmer.
But it would be easier if CW skimmer modified their code allow for SPLIT mode operation.

you need to contact VE3NEA. I sent suggestions a few times but he never responded
tnx anyway
p.s. so the Powersdr cat RX2-VFOB port is only for 5000A?

Re: CW skimmer strange with PowerRX2
RX2 VFOB is just like the OmniRig PowerRX2
Its only for a Flex-5000 with the 2nd receiver (RX2)
Its so you can run a 3rd party program like WSJT-X or FLDIGI or CW Skimmer on the 2nd receiver only (RX2 has its own SPLIT now)
