How to set TURF for your Country, and MARS

Post by ke9ns »

TURF is the country in which you are licensed. Changing the TURF of your Radio will allow you to Transmit on bands allowed by your Country.
MARS allows the radio to transmit outside the normal TURF allows bands.
You need to be licensed to transmit outside the standard HAM license for your Country.
This comes into play for 630m, 4m, 8m possible operation (which all require a license or privilege).

The TOP or BOTTOM line of the PowerSDR control screen will show you the Radios Model#, Serial# and TURF you are currently running.

To change your TURF or MARS operation (while in PowerSDR):

Hit CTRL SHIFT D

For Flex-3000/5000, click on the "Low Level Hardware..." Tab

Select your TURF from the list, and follow the Message box instructions.

Select MARS if you are authorized to transmit on 630m, 4m or 8m (and you have your own external LPFs)
