Recurrent activations of DttSP Autostart

Post by MGK3 »

Until recently I have never noticed the DttSP activations. I am running Windows 10 pro, Flex 5000, Powersdr 152. I have completely unloaded and reloaded several previous versions of Powersdr and continue to see these activations even with 3D off, High Res panafall off. I have never been able to get it to work with 192000 Sample rate with out it freezing up and had to reload it and run at 96000. Are these issues related?

"DPC latency" is the cause of the DttSP lockup.
If you cannot run your 5000 at 192k, its either the PC is struggling with the load caused by the FireWire data, or the FireWire card, or FireWire Driver.

If I ever see a lockup occur, I always open the windows Task manager and see what is running in the background.
But if you have at least 4 cores on your PC, I would lean towards getting a different FireWire 1394 card.

How many cores/threads does your PC have, and what type of FireWire card? Does it have a 1394A and B port or just the 1394A port. I would make sure you have a card with both 1394A and B. The B means the card is more an capable or the speeds needed for PowerSDR. I dont trust the older cards.

Darrin

Thanks for the reply. I am running a Intel i78700K cpu @ 3.70Ghz, so horsepower should not be a concern. I am running a Via 1394. I am not sure of "A" or B" Driver info below

- InstallDeviceID

DriverName 1394.inf_amd64_2336da6415b7dc6f

DriverVersion 10.0.18362.1

DriverProvider Microsoft

DeviceInstanceID PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3403&SUBSYS_34031106&REV_01\4&2EBC2115&0&00E5

SetupClass {6bdd1fc1-810f-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f}

RebootOption false

UpgradeDevice true

IsDriverOEM false

InstallStatus 0x0

DriverDescription VIA 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller

Do you recommend any specific card? Can the 800M slot be used? I am currently using the 400M slot. It appears they sell a 9 pin to 6 pin adapter cable, is this an option?

Thanks for your help, I love what you are doing with Powersdr

1394B is the smaller 800mb port. it just signifies a newer chip design.
I was using a VIA chip firewire previously, but It was acting strange (if you tried to change drivers it would crash my PC), so I bought a new board from Ebay using a TI chip "XIO2213B" and have no troubles at all.
Your cpu is similar to my Ryzen PC, (6core/12thread).

I have more info on my webpage. Click the Firewire link on my webpage.

I went out and replaced the firewire card with a new Syba 3-port FireWire Combo PCIe Controller Card and cable and doubled my computer ram to 32 Gigs.

What difference! I can now run it at 192K, first time ever

Darrin Keep up the great work and thanks for the help

Great. Thats what I would expect!
Syba is the card I am using (with the TI chipset).

The VIA chips worked well until Win10, but apparently are now too old.

I normally have FireFox, Visual Studio, Dreamweaver, WSJT-X, HRD, and PowerSDR all running at the same time with no issues.

Also running a Crucial solid-state drive makes a big difference.
