The only time I have seen a double image is when you have Display scaling turn on to something other than the normal 100%

For example: You have a 4k (UHD) monitor and have scaling turn on because everything is so small (and you trying to make it larger, easier to see). PowerSDR will not play nice.

So make sure PowerSDR (right click on desktop icon-> Properties->Compatibility) does not have anything set except admin mode so PowerSDR can update your PC time clock when using the Spotter screen). And make sure Windows does not have any Display scaling turn on (right click on open desktop area->Display Settings)

If you run a resolution less than 1920 x 1080 (HD), it may squish everything to make it try and fit, but it normally does not double image it.

Usually only the FireWire connection give troubles with PowerSDR (i.e. 3000 and 5000)
I am surprised your having troubles with a 1500, since it only needs a USB port.
I would try a different USB port on the same computer, or different USB cable?
If that fails I would try any other PC and see if it works correctly?

Get some clamp-on ferrite with highest impedance in the HF range.
I put ferrite on all my cables on both my computer and radio and larger ferrite on my coax.
If you look at my shack panorama picture (ke9ns.com) I have my computer way on the left side->my monitors->my Flex-5000 on the top right side -> my amp.
