Hi,
I have had a problem for several years now regarding Power SDR startup on my Windows 10 Desktop. Since I have PowerSDR setup to run as an Administrator, I get a popup asking me about that. This is normal. When I click YES, about 30% of the time, I get the 2nd popup, "Other Instances" image attached. If I look at Services APP, there is no other PowerSDR service running. The only solution is to reboot.
I wonder if others are having this issue, and is there an easy fix?
I have found that bringing up the Flex 1st after a fresh boot has a better chance of working, and opening Firefox first increases the odds of getting the problem.
I am not sure now, but I seem to remember this happening on my last hard drive when I had 2.7.2 loaded. Makes me think the problem is on my end.
I only click the Icon once, so an issue of multiple clicks does not seem to be the cause.

Re: Power SDR Start Up issues
I have my PowerSDR set to run as "Admin" as well, to allow me to use the "Time Sync" feature (and update my PC time clock) in the Spotter screen.
You will always get the pop-up asking for permission every time you launch any program set to run as "Admin"
If you ever get the "instances" message, it just means you already have PowerSDR running, and your trying to run a 2nd time. So always click "NO"
So either you just closed PowerSDR and tried to re-launch PowerSDR too soon, so you get the "instances" message, OR PowerSDR is actually still running and you have it minimized, OR last time you used PowerSDR it crashed and so did not completely clear itself out of memory (you should always reboot your PC and radio, if it crashes).

Re: Power SDR Start Up issues
Thanks Darrin,
I have had several instances of booting my computer, and doing Browsing, bill pay, YouTube, Rumble, and then try to open up Power SDR, and I get the "Instances error". Perhaps the last time Power SDR closed is the issue, but that was on the prior boot. I upgraded yesterday to *242, and the first time I closed it, I got a pop up asking if PowerSDR closed properly? I do notice that shutting down is much slower than it used to be since many releases back...maybe that is normal.
I just clicked on the flex Setup top page, and checked the box for "Allow Windows Shutdown". Maye that will make a difference

Re: Power SDR Start Up issues
PowerSDR takes a while to shut down and completely close.
Originally the console closed, but PowerSDR would still be finishing up closing without you know it was still working in the background.
So I keep the console open until its completely finished (so it only appears to take longer)
I also have it create 3 shutdown.log files (in the database folder) to show if it properly shut down or had a failure of some kind as it closed.
Make sure shutdown1.log shows all 8 steps completed, shutdown2.log shows all 5 steps, and shutdown3.log shows all 31 steps.
Anything less means a failure to properly shutdown. At that point, you would need to do a setup->factory defaults and start with a new database.
The "instance" message can only occur for the reasons I described before.
PowerSDR has always had an issue where it will not close itself when you shut-down Windows itself.
I tried to fix it with the "allow widows shut-down" but it didn't fix it.
So always close PowerSDR yourself before closing Windows.

Re: Power SDR Start Up issues
I found a simple fix. When this happens, I simply cycle the power to the Flex 3000, and then answer "YES" to the popup.
When I cycle power off, I hear a computer noise as the Firewire link is terminated, and then it makes the same noise after power is restored.
