If you hit the "PLAY" button while in Receive mode, you will get the message you show. "since those recordings can only be played back while in Transmit."

You got a NULL fault. Most likely because you tried to "PLAY" a recording that was not there?

Click REC to make a recording, Click REC again to end the recording.

Now MOX the radio, and click PLAY.

If it crashes, then reboot, and this time right click on the PLAY button which opens a file selection window. Click on "Cancel"
This should tell PowerSDR to select the latest file to play the next time you Transmit and hit the PLAY button

If your using VAC1, you must select "Mix VAC1 and Mic audio" if you want to use the REC / PLAY buttons

sounds like you need to reset your database back to factory defaults.

Hold the SHIFT key down while launching PowerSDR.
You will see a message asking to reset your database back to factory default.

See if it works OK after a factory reset.

When exactly does this happen?
What Mic are you using?
Show me the VAC1 settings.
I need to know exactly what your doing and your settings so I can duplicate it here.

Not sure If I am duplicating your setup, but its working on my Flex-1500 running .264

normally, you would not select stereo (since your source is mono anyways) and either 44100 or 48000 SR, making sure the SR you choose matches the the device on the other end of the virtual cable (i.e. your mic and your headset)

I also normally use "DirectSound" over MME. MME has the most compatible drivers, but the worst latency.
And watch your RX and TX gain. Everyone has a different setting. My TX is always at 0, but I usually need to cut my RX -5
