CW

Post by K2GC »

I am struggling getting my setup to work on CW with a paddle.

I feel like I am missing something, followed the manual for CW setup.

Attached is a screenshot of the keyer tab in setup.

the radio does not seem to respond to the paddle at all. It is a '3 wire' cable.

is there other settings I should be looking for???

Any advice is welcome!

Make sure your CWL or CWU modes (since you dont have the Auto Mode Switch turned ON)
Next I would cycle power to your radio (just in case).

Lastly...
You can go to the diagnostics screen and view the status of the paddle inputs (that you have plugged into the TRS connector)
CTRL + SHIFT + D
key->poll (check this box) now use your paddle, and the Dot and Dash boxes will turn Yellow as you use the paddle.
Turn off the Poll when your done.

If you dont see the boxes light up, then you may not have it wired correctly.

thanks!

Not sure what really did it.

Started in the diagnostics page and used the Poll to confirm yes the radio was seeing the inputs.

Then, I turned automode switch on... and boom, it worked.

now, even with it off, when I choose the mode, it works properly!

I guess the next question is going to be... with my TS480, and FT450, i can use the key for practice, without TXing. Is that possible with the Flex 5000?

Thanks again!

I believe the only choice is to set the Drive level to 0.
