Hello all, I thought I would check here before sending a new to me Flex 5000a off to Troy Radio. The radio was just serviced there in May and was confirmed to be working after a repair and ATU install. I acquired the rig later.
The most recent (.250) Ke9ns software and drivers for the Firewire were downloaded by a friend/computer guy. The radio was not connected to the computer during this time. I set up the rig and connected the computer several days later. All appeared to be a normal start up and the software recognized the rig, allowing access to functions and excellent reception. While setting up audio with the W1AEX process on a dummy load, I could see my audio and I was able to access all functions of the set-up process. EXCEPT, there was no output power, as confirmed by an in-line, external meter. I checked settings such as the PTT, RX only, TUN power, MIC selection, etc. and they were okay. The rig acts perfectly normal, with the exception of RF output. If the radio did not just back from Troy, I would suspect other issues. As it was just serviced and they confirmed it was working, user error would seem highly likely. I did a factory default re-start at the suggestion of Troy, but to no avail.
Any suggestions before I reunite it with Toby (great guy BTW)? Your thoughts are appreciated! de K1WH

Re: Flex 5000A no output power
I assume when you did the factory defaults you did see the EEPROM transfer window popup (both RX and TX transfers)?
That way you know that the calibrations in the EEPROM were transfered to your new database.
Sometimes Factory default does not do this.
Anyway...
Assuming you can Receive signals...
Set 2nd meter to "Combo" and click on the TUN button (with TUN set to 100) and then take a FULL CONSOLE screen shot
Then hit CTRL+SHIFT+D (Debug screen)
Check the box for ADC "Poll", and take a screen shot of this screen during a TUN (set TUN to 100)
Change the Chan: from Final Bias to Driver Bias (also note the bias when your just Receiving.)
Uncheck box when done
I would probably try moving your antenna to the different ANT ports just to see if anything is different between the 3 ports?
Possibly open up the case just to make sure none of the cables have simply become unplugged?
