Past swr data retrieval and display

Post by mac »

Love the ability to do the swr scan, and the information that is displayed. Is there a way to retrieve, and then display past data to the pan screen? It’s great to see current swr conditions, but it would also be great to see the data from a scan that has been previously saved from last week, or even longer..

It always saves all SWR data. Just open the scanner window and check the Display Recorded SWR Plots.
If you want run a new Plot and keep an old plot, just increment the RUN#
But to display multiple runs, you need to switch the Display to Panadapter only
You can see up to 5 plots for any band & antenna combo.

I must be doing something wrong... All of this works as you describe until I close the program and restart. It has saved the information. I can open the folder and see the saved files, but I’m unable to retrieve, and re-display them in the Panadapter..Are you only able to display the data into the Panadapter during an active session, and not afterward?

Ok more information...I had collected data on 80 through 10 meters. As I cycle through the bands, I see the collected data on 20 meters, 17 meters, 12 meters, 10 meters... But not 80 meters, 40 meters, 15 meters... ?? Of the past data collected, I assume it’ll always display the last data set collected (or last 5) for each band.. Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand more and what I’m doing wrong..

Again... Even more information.. I erased the previous 80 meter (There were 4 files) and 40 meter files. Re-ran the plots, displayed fine... I closed, then reopened PowerSDR, and all bands displayed except 80 and 40 meters... Previously I indicated 15 was not displayed. That was because I had not run a SWR plot on that band. I did run an plot on 15 meters during this session and it does display and restart.. Hopefully this will help...

The Pan SWR plots are stored in 1 file (ke9ns_SWR1.dat) in the database folder in a binary (not human friendly) format.

The .dat file stores (5) possible RUNs# (tests#), (9) possible ANT selections (the 5000 has 9 possible), and (41) possible Bands (all the MARS bands as well). It updates the .dat file immediately upon finishing a run.
Upon opening PowerSDR it loads up the .dat file. So, it will display previous SWR plots as long as you select the same Run#, same Ant, Same Band.
This binary file cannot be easily altered externally, so if its not displaying correctly, you may want to delete the file to force a fresh start?

There is a SWR_PLOTS folder (I just added in .166). That stores human readable text files of each separate SWR plot (1 run per file). It has has nothing to do with the Pan Display of the SWR plots.

Ok... I deleted the ke9ns_SWR1.dat file, then re-ran the SWR plot for 80 meters on Run #1.. Displayed properly UNTIl I did a PowerSDR restart.. No 80 meter data.. BUT the previous data from other bands still existed, even though the ke9ns_SWR1.dat had been deleted before this effort..

So I deleted ke9ns_SWR1.dat file again, restarted PowerSDR again, previous data from other bands still there..

So I deleted ke9ns_SWR1.dat file again, restarted PowerSDR again, This time used Run#2 to plot SWR on 80meters and 17 meters, restarted PowerSDR.... No SWR plot on 80 meters, but now Run#1 and Run #2 on 17 meters...

Scratch head?

BTW... I did recheck the database folder to make certain the ke9ns_SWR1.dat file had been deleted...

What is your Radios TURF region show (top line of PowerSDR console screen) and what model Flex do you have?
I will try to run with your configuration.

My Turf region is US. (Would like to have extended turf, but that’s another topic) Radio model is Flex 3000...When running the 80 meter plot I ran 3.5 to 4.0 MHz in 4.0 kHz steps at a 350mSec scan speed.

Just ran an SWR Plot on my Flex-3000 (same settings as your settings). Ran a 80m, 20m, 40m
Closed PowerSDR, reopened and check the Scanner->Display Recorded SWR Plots box, and they were all there.

Not sure why your radio is not remembering the 80m SWR plot?
I cant think of any other setting that would mess it up?

Darrin... Thank you So much for your time and help. Sorry to be such a pain. I can’t imagine what’s happening at this point, but it must be something in my radio/configuration/etc. that is different, or just something I’m doing wrong. Thanks again.. If I find any additional information that could be useful, or if I find it is problem in my radio/configuration or operator error, I’ll also inform you of that..

I have been able to retrieve the stored ke9ns_SWR1.dat file! Unfortunately I broke my own rules of making only 1 change per experiment making 2 changes... 1st. change: I have only been left button clickIng on the PowerSDR v2.8.0 icon to start the program. I did a right button click, selected run as administrator..... Still no plots, but then I made change number 2: I ran an 80 meter plot in usb, not lsb, and it worked! Ran another plot in lsb, and it again worked and saved. Then I ran a plot on 40 meters lsb and it also worked.. I do not know which change did it, and none of it is slam dunk logical to me except that the first run I made on usb was also the first run in admin mode. It now seems to work repeatedly..??? Yea!!
