Internal ATU

Post by K2GC »

Anyone have any issues with the Internal ATU?

I just bought one from a guy in Russia... made a shield (based on the installation manual), bought a BNC cable, found some stand-offs (again based on manual)

It doesnt work right.....

I can get it to tune an antenna on 20.... but its not tuning it down right.

It claims it cant tune on 40m.... 80m, it attempts and just fails right away.

Obviously there is an issue, I am just hoping someone may have some experience with something like this....

Sorry i can't help; hopefully someone will come along with the relevant information. My reason for this reply is :- how come you had to source the "internal"ATU in Russia ? ....I assumed you'd be able to pick one up stateside quite easily ? (saying that i can't get one for love nor money in the U.K or ANYWHERE...been looking for the past 2-3 years  )

Is it an LDG unit?
When you go to Setup->General->Hardward Config-> what does the ATU: show?
I have the original Flex-5000 LDG unit. It reads ATU: 0911-0029 (52B) in PowerSDR.

Just curious..

I have been looking for a while (6 months?) and this was the first one I have found! It was listed on QTH. Regretting it now!

interesting question. My friends is clearly and LDG, as its printed right on the board.

Mine does not have any LDG printing on it, but it shows up as ATU: Present (52B) in my config. It does not provide a part # like yours shows???

Oddly, even before I installed it, it showed as 'Present'

Furthermore, when I first powered the radio on, the software knew it was there right away. I did continue to the eeprom update as the instructions say though....

My assumption is the serial# of the board (ATU in this case) is read via communications with the tuner, but It could be Flex just programs it into the EEPROM so they have better historical information if it comes back for repair.

Anyway....
Did you go into the ATU screen and try setting the SWR threshold higher, and then click on FULL TUNE?
Thats the only thing I can think of checking.

The Flex itself has its own SWR sensor and so does the LDG tuner, so sometimes they will be off from each other.
