BSOD with new computer

Post by n0lwf »

I am getting BSOD on a new computer with Flex 5000 and fresh install of PowerSDR v2.8.0.324. After starting PSDR if I click stop or something in the menu I get a BSOD. Compatibility is set for windows 7. Computer is set for high performance and priority in PSDR is set to high. I have tried 3 different TI chipset cards and one VIA chipset card. They all do the same thing. I am stumped at this point. Any help appreciated

This is the error I get,

I think I have found the problem. I have turned of windows defender firewall and it is working now. I may need to add an exclusion

You probably already have, but I have to ask,
Have you tried using the FireWire Legacy driver, as opposed to the default driver?
Have you tried the TI XIO2213B Chip FireWire?

I too had a new Win11 PC and tried everything as well. The only solution was to take a clean hard drive and install Win7 x64 SP1, install PowerSDR. Test it to make sure it runs with no issues, then do in-place upgrades to Win10 and then to Win11. I had to use Legacy driver, but it runs now with the upgraded Win11.

When I put the original Win11 hard drive (that came with the PC) back in, PowerSDR crashes.

It only works with the upgraded hard drive (even though its the exact same FireWire card (TI XIO2213B).

I cannot guarantee this will work for everyone, but it also worked for my main Win11 PC. I had a motherboard die, so I replaced the motherboard, and PowerSDR ran just fine because I used my original Hard drive that was originally upgraded from Win7 to Win10 to Win11 years ago.
